PTHS Fashion Club Develops Partnerships to Create Meaningful Relationships
Sep 04, 2024

PTHS Fashion Club prides itself on being a safe place to learn, love and express yourself.  It empowers teenagers to find their sense of style and feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.  Sponsor Caitlin Ulf wanted to incorporate more service work into the club, so she and her students thought of a way to spread love to less fortunate women.

The Fashion Club started a gently worn/used clothing and accessory drive which brought in hundreds of beautiful pieces.  The members sorted the clothing and packed a large suitcase full of outfits along with notes written in Spanish that would be transported to a small village, Vilcabamba, in Ecuador.  Mrs.  Ulf met with a local young woman whose family lives in Vilcabamba, and she agreed to transport the suitcase of clothing to Ecuador on her February visit.

The suitcase of clothing (some gently worn and never worn) was flown to Ecuador, where it was received by many grateful women.  Earlier this year, the Fashion Club won a grant through Kickline Dance Studio, which covered the cost of transporting the very large suitcase.

Caitlin hops to continue to develop the relationship between Fashion Club and the women of Vilcabamba so that more clothes can be donated in the future.  It was an impactful and intimate project that gave the club members a different way of bringing out the best in others.
